MOUNTAIN BIKING: Jack Rabbit Trails

← NC LITTLE TENNESSEE RIVER PRENTISS NC Single Tracks →

Description

Jackrabbit is a very beginner-friendly trail network and features gentle ups and downs, and is very twisty and very fast! There are very few obstacles, and essentially no technical riding, and very little climbing. However, the flow of this place totally makes up for it!

I am a huge downhill, loose rock, obstacle guy, but this trail is a total blast! This is one of the most fun machine-built trails I have ever ridden!!

The trail system is set up with a central loop that all of the other trails branch off of. Consequently, it's very easy to navigate: just follow the main loop, grab one of the trails off of it, return to the loop, and keep going! If you keep turning in one direction, you should be able to ride pretty much the entire trail system.

It also looks like the campgrounds there are really, really good and really close. I drove by but did not go into them.

Directions

From the MacDonald's/ Huddle House traffic light in downtown Hiawasse (US 64 west), head out of town towards Hayesville. Turn left when you see the sign for Jack Rabbit Campground( US Forest Service), over the border into NC. As you come to a bend and can see the lake, the trailhead is on the left BEFORE THE CURVE with a sign" Jack Rabbit Mountain Bike and Hiking trails". It's in a grassy field. I drove past, but saw the sign as I passed it the first time.
